The Templars

The Templars: The Rise, Fall, and Legacy of a Military Religious Order, offers a wide range of perspectives on this community's emergence, establishment and lasting resonance. The book includes an introductory essay that sketches out the history of the Templars, both in the context of the crusader states and the medieval Mediterranean but also within the countries of western Europe. This is followed by fifteen case studies which are divided into three parts. Part One explores the order's rise to prominence, Part Two its fall during one of the most spectacular heresy proceedings of the Middle Ages and Part Three its legacy over the subsequent centuries.
