Did you know that dogs can smell 40 times better than humans do? They also have much more sense of smell than you do! In fact, dogs have 300 million scent receptors, double the number that humans have! This is an important difference, because a dog's olfactory sense is much more developed than ours. The smell that your dog emits is caused by its sweaty claws. This sweat makes walking on hot surfaces easier for a dog than it is for a human.
