Twelve-year-old Dooley Creed reluctantly moves from Boston to Peacock Valley, Minnesota with his parents. Almost immediately after they move in, Dooley starts seeing unusual activity in the field in front of his family¿s new home.With the help of his next-door neighbor Cyrano Mulligan and Cyrano¿s magical family, Dooley uncovers a centuries-old secret about the cursed, hybrid creatures who live within the giant ash tree in the field. Dooley must learn that, like the Mulligans, he too has powers that make him special and valuable. With this knowledge and a newfound understanding of his own abilities, Dooley is compelled to break the curse and save the creatures.
