William Faulkner's Postcolonial South

Explaining that like other authors of the Southern Renascence, Faulkner (1897-1962) believed the South to be a victim of northern imperialism after the Civil War, Baker (English, Indiana U. of Pennsylvania) places his writing into the larger and more recent genre of post-colonialism, and argues that he transcended the typical flag-waving nostalgia to suggest a path toward personal liberation.
