"46: The Birth of Porsche Motorsport tells the story of how Porsche rose from the ashes of the Second World War and overcame multiple trials and near disasters to compete with SL 063 at Le Mans, the Liege-Rome-Liege Rally and record setting at Montlhéry and set the company on its way to becoming the juggernaut that is Porsche Motorsport. Then the cars were sold to dealer Max Hoffman and Porsche's American adventure began.John von Neumann purchased SL 063 and after removing its roof, the car became a west coast race winner. The market that von Neumann helped establish in California would grow to consume close to 25 percent of Porsche's total production. After being passed through a number of owners, in 1982 SL 063 had a rebirth as a mainstay at the Monterey Historic races.When Cameron Healy bought the car in 2009, he assembled a team that confirmed that SL 063 was the 1951 Porsche Le Mans entry and class winner. Over several years, the team restored the car to the state it was in when presented at the start of the 1951 24 Hours of Le Mans."
