老卒奇譚
(Author) Harvey Whitehouse"老卒"是上世紀中期兩廣一代逃港群體中,對於多次逃港者的稱呼。本書作者借用為筆名,創作了這部自傳體小說,講述了中國從1950年代延續到1970年代末期的"大逃港"浪潮中的一个个案。 主人公杨帆是一名具備獨立思想的廣州青年,高中時被下放到農村"支援農村建設"。經歷多年人生曲折之後,他成為千万名对現實不滿,渴望以逃港改變人生境遇、尋求自由民主的青年中的一員。 本書記錄了杨帆惊心动魄、艱苦卓絕的多次逃港經歷,也通過杨帆的所見所聞,為那個時代形形色色的逃港青年们绘制了一幅群像,其中有像他一样的知识青年,有迷途知返的造反派,也有小偷,赌徒,普通農民、市民,等等。作者也記下了自己對於逃港的思考:1949年後由上層發動的歷次政治運動,並非真正的"群眾運動"。相反,為追求平安、美好的生活與自由民主而持續数十年的大逃港,才是真正的、自發的群眾運動。 書中还提供了極為豐富的逃港相關的技術與細節,從逃港路線的選擇,指南針、橡皮筏等的手工製造,到偽造身份(報流)、偽造介紹信(流霖),再到逃港者中流行的"行話",以及政治大氣候對逃港的影響,等等,堪稱一部小型的逃港百科。
