From Colour to Form

Gerard Wagner (1906-1999) studied painting at the St Ives Art Colony in Cornwall and at the Royal College of Art in London. In 1926 he moved to Dornach, Switzerland where he continued his studies at the Goetheanum Painting School. From then on, he developed his own path of colour research, the results of which were first shown regularly in the early 1940s. A highlight of his later years was the showing of a retrospective of his work at the State Hermitage Museum, St Petersburg, Russia in 1997.
