They couldn't deny it: it was a calling from God to leave their lives in America and become missionaries in Belgian Congo. Ira "Al" and Carol Cross, with their little girl Margie, made the trek to the Congo during the 1940s and 1950s, living within the Kwilu District and the Kivu Province, and among the Bampende Tribe. Such an endeavor for the Lord is worth telling, which Margie provides in her new semi-autobiography, So Many Hats! Missionary Stories from the Belgian Congo. A loving tribute to her parents, Margie recalls that her parents took on many duties as missionaries, not just in evangelizing but also in being amateur dentists, mechanics, builders, etc. However, their adventures allowed the family to get out of their comfort zone and become invested in the people of Belgian Congo. They witnessed God's protection from harm, God answering prayer and God's re-confirming His calling for them.
