While spending the summer housesitting a Gothic castle in Whitby, 18-year-old Sadé quickly befriends nice-guy Ethan, the hot young builder renovating the castle. There's an undeniable attraction between them, but things are complicated, because Sadé has a secret: she has recently discovered that she's a soucouyante - a Caribbean vampire that can turn into a flaming fireball. As Sadé struggles to control her thirst for blood, she joins a secret support group of other young vampires. Sparks fly - literally - when she meets rebellious, self-loathing Alok, a Sri Lankan blood demon. Alok's adoptive father, unaware of his son's blood-sucking heritage, leads a group of local vampire hunters, set on avenging mysterious attacks that have been occurring all summer. Tensions between vampires and their hunters rise as the attacks increase. Soon, Sadé finds herself caught in a dangerous love triangle. As worlds collide and secrets come out, Sadé faces an impossible decision . . .
